In 2013, the Philippine juice producing company Del Monte Pacific Ltd entered into an agreement to acquire a division of the American company Del Monte Foods Co for $ 1.68 billion. The deal was made with the aim to expand the business. It's hard to believe that the partial similarity of companies' names is just a coincidence. The decision of Del Monte Foods to sell its food production was dictated by the intention to concentrate on the production of goods for animals. Later the company changed the name to Big Heart Pet Brands.
